  <dc:description>The naturalists Ehrenberg and Hemprich collected
their specimens of the fauna and flora of North Africa and the Middle East
from 1820-1825. Hemprich died during the expedition; Ehrenberg returned to
Berlin and began work on this publication. The specimens were deposited in
the Berlin Museum.</dc:description>
